Mallrats sequel to become a 10-episode TV series

More on

A year ago, Kevin Smith announced that he was working on a sequel to his cult film Mallrats and a script for Mallbrats (as Mallrats 2 was known) was produced. But now, hot off his directing stint on season two of The Flash, Smith has announced that he is turning the sequel into a 10-episode TV series instead.

While being interviewed on WMMR’s The Preston & Steve Show, Smith announced the details behind the format change.

“We started reconfiguring the idea of doing Mallrats not as a film but as a series, and Universal and I are just about to close our deal to do Mallrats the series. Then we take it out into the world and find a home for it. So, instead of doing a Mallrats movie, I’m going to do 10 episodes of a Mallrats series.” - WMMR

The Mallrats TV sequel doesn't have a network ready to broadcast yet, but there is surely going to be some avid fan interest as this continues into development. More news as we have it.
