Seth MacFarlane probably isn't the first name you would think of when it comes to developing a live-action sci-fi series. But Collider have reported that he is creating a 13-episode comedy series for Fox, set 300 years in the future on the the crew of a 'a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar Fleet' called Orville.

MacFarlane of course is know for being the creator of animated comedy shows Family Guy and American Dad and live action cult comedy film Ted, but this will be his time running a live action TV show. On the announcement, he claimed he had wanted to do something like this show ever since he was a kid and it felt like a no-brainer to bring it to Fox.

The show doesn't have a title yet, but with his unique brand of comedy, this could become a television Star Trek parody in the same manner that Galaxy Quest was for the films. More news as we have it.
