Nicholas Meyer joins Star Trek TV show as consulting producer and writer

The announcement that Bryan Fuller was taking on the duties as showrunner on the new Star Trek TV series has been met with almost universal praise and now here is some additional news that is sure to raise the excitement levels of fans everywhere; Nicholas Meyer will be joining the show as consulting producer and writer.

Meyer worked on the screenplays for three of the biggest and most critically-acclaimed Star Trek movies; Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Bryan Fuller broke the news on his Twitter feed with this great image;

Things are looking good for the latest Star Trek TV incarnation, with cult actor and Star Trek allum Tony Todd claiming he is up for a role. We're certainly excited.
