Legion: Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza and Jean Smart join the show

Legion - the quasi-X-Men spin-off for Fox TV has started to gather its key cast members for the pilot episode. First up is Downton Abbey's Dan Stevens, who will be taking on the titular role of David Haller. Variety have described David as;

"Despite a life of drugs and alcohol abuse, she knows her life will soon turn around, which gives her the likeable energy of the impossible optimist despite her rough demeanor." - FX

Rounding off the announcement is Jean Smart (known to 24 fans as first lady Martha Logan and recently in another FX show Fargo, alongside another Legion-confirmed cast member Rachel Keller as Syd. Smart will play Melanie, who Variety describe as;

"a nurturing, demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods." - FX
