Guillermo del Toro’s Trollhunters coming to Netflix

Netflix continues to grow more confident in its original programming, as it expands its multi-year distribution deal with DreamWorks Animation to air several new shows. This includes animated series Trollhunters from director Guillermo del Toro, based on the 2015 novel co-written with Daniel Kraus. The show centres on a fifteen-year-old boy Jim who discovers a secrets world of trolls hidden from society.

And fans of 1980's cartoon series Voltron will also be delighted to learn that Netflix is remaking this show too.

The new deal with DreamWorks Animation gives them access to the entire film library and will continue to produce animated shows like The Adventures of Puss in Boots and Dragons: Race to the Edge globally - with the exception of China which the streaming site still hopes to crack.

On the deal, Netflix vp of original series Cindy Holland stated:

"DreamWorks Animation is synonymous with great storytelling that families around the world enjoy. It's with great pleasure that we expand on an already successful relationship with DreamWorks Animation to bring more premium kids and family television to Netflix members globally." - Netflix

Between Trollhunters, Voltron, Marvel's Daredevil and Jessica Jones and great dramas like House Of Cards, Netflix is really proving that its original programming is well worth the subscription alone...
