Doctor Who Christmas Special Gets A New Image And Synopsis

More on Doctor Who

The magnificent Doctor Who series nine ends on December 5th. Fortunately for us, the Christmas special will air a mere 20 days later. And this time he will be joined by his wife River Song. We still don't have an episode title yet, but the BBC have released this festive image of the Doctor in the TARDIS and the following synopsis...

It’s Christmas Day in the future and the TARDIS is parked on a snowy village street, covered in icicles, awaiting its next adventure. Time traveler River Song meets her husband’s new incarnation, in the form of Peter Capaldi, for the first time this Christmas.

BBC America meanwhile have announced that they will be showing the Christmas special in cinemas on Monday the 28th of December and Tuesday the 29th of December. Seems like a bit of overkill; The 50th special The Day Of The Doctor was perfect for the big screen, but it is a TV show after all.

We'll bring you the episode title as we have it. In the meanwhile, keep following our weekly reviews of Doctor Who series nine and check out our preview for this Saturday's Sleep No More here.
