Marvel And Fox Team Up For two X-Men TV Shows
Fox and Marvel haven't been on the best of terms over recent years, with both fighting it out for the biggest summer blockbuster film, yet it seems this may all change with the announcement of a joint collaboration on two new X-men TV shows.
The first new announcement is Legion, which is being created by FX Networks. Legion follows the tale of David Haller, the young son of Charles Xavier. David spends most of his time in and out of psychiatric hospitals, dealing with schizophrenia.
Legion's story, if loyal to original Marvel Lore, should see David turn into an extraordinarily powerful mutant by harnessing the powers of the "voices in his head" into a singular being.
With "FX" taking on the show we may expect to see the show take a darker turn than previous X-Men live action forays.
Legion's pilot episode is being written by Noah Hawley, known for his successful adaptation of the hit film Fargo.
“His adaptation of Fargo for television was one of the most acclaimed television events in recent memory. It’s also an honour to partner with Marvel on Legion and to enlist such an accomplished team of Executive Producers to create this pilot.”
Secondly we have Hellfire, based on Marvel's Hellfire Club. Avid X-Men fans may remember the team working under Kevin Bacon in X-Men First Class.
Hellfire is set during the 1960s and follows a young special agent who learns of a secret society of dastardly millionaires, with their eyes set clearly on world domination.
The action-adventure series will be developed by FOX.
“We are thrilled to partner with Marvel to bring this world to television and build upon the vibrant mythology that has captivated fans for years,” says Fox’ Broadcasting’s David Madden. “These powerful and dynamic characters are complicated and larger-than-life, the pace and visual imagination are unrelenting, and the story takes place during one of the most explosive eras in recent history. We are so looking forward to working with this incredibly talented team.”
More news on both shows as we have it.
