Hannibal - Could It Return As A Movie?
The future has been looking bleak for Hannibal since NBC cancelled the show; bleaker still since Netflix and Amazon both passed on season four and the cast were released from their contracts. With a Hannibal panel at this year's Comic Con, fans have were desperately hoping that there might be some chance of a revival yet.
Showrunner Bryan Fuller couldn't give those answers but did confirm that ""We are still looking [at options], we don't have a lot of answers, and we're looking at the possibility of a feature."
Regarding Netflix and Amazon, Fuller confirmed Netflix passed on season four because Amazon had the streaming rights. Amazon expressed interest but wanted to do it immediately and Fuller wasn't comfortable with the timeframe given.
While the show is still without a lifeline and the rights to Silence Of The Lambs have not yet been obtained, Fuller told Comic Con exactly who he would want to play Clarice Starling if he ever got to adapt the book; Ellen Page.
"I think she would be a great Clarice - but I also love the idea of casting somebody who's not white in that role, and having race play a factor in Clarice's background, in a way that race plays a factor in everybody's background. It'd be an interesting exploration of the character."
No definite news yet, though the feature film idea will give fans some hope. More news on Hannibal as we have it.
