A New Female Writer and Series Eight Character Confirmed For Doctor Who Series Nine

Another writer and the second female in the lineup for for Doctor Who series nine, has been announced. Sarah Dollard, who previously penned Being Human will be on script duties for episode 10. Her episode will be directed by Justin Molotnikov, who will also be working on a further episode - presumably Mark Gatiss's - in what is likely to be another 'linked two-episode story'.

But that's not all. Returning in episode 10 will be Joivan Wade's Rigsy, last seen in series eight's Flatline as Clara's own assistant. There is no news yet what the episode will be about, but this picture was put on Instagram during filming in Cardiff today.

The long-running BBC TV science fiction series that started in 1963 and recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. 2017 saw Peter Capaldi regenerate into the show's first female Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker. The Thirteenth Doctor's first season debuts in 2018, with Chris Chibnall replacing Steven Moffat as the current showrunner.
