Red Dwarf To Return For Two More Series In 2016 and 2017
When Red Dwarf returned to our screens in 2012, it was viewed as a real return to form and while plans were originally made to film more episodes in October of last year, Red Dwarf XI has taken a little longer than planned. Now fans have had the announcement they have been waiting for; Red Dwarf will be back with not one but two series. The original cast - Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn - will be back for both series again, with the episodes broadcast on the show's new home channel Dave.
The show's co-creator Doug Naylor confirmed he will be writing and directing all the episodes. On the announcement of the show's return, Naylor stated, “[Dave’s general manager] Steve North and everyone at UKTV have been so supportive of Red Dwarf from the start of their involvement with the show. Steve originally asked for more shows back in 2012 but frustratingly it’s taken until now to get our ducks in a row and all the boys available at the same time. Now they are, we’re all absolutely delighted.”
The new episodes will be shot in front of a live studio audience again, with tickets available later this year.
