Multiple cast members confirmed for The X Files 'season 10'
More on The X Files
The recent announcement that The X Files would be returning for six new episodes also confirmed that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson would be returning as series leads Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. But there has been no news yet about who might be joining them...well as it turns out all the major cast members.
Duchovny revealed the following while talking to David Letterman on The Late Show...
“There’s Gillian and I, we’re original. Mitch Pileggi will come back, and the cigarette-smoking man – if that means anything to anyone – will be coming back.”
Pileggi was all but confirmed to return as Walter Skinner, particularly after his appearance at the end of the second move The X Files: I Want To Believe. Though he seemingly died - again - in an explosion during the final episode The Truth, it would appear William B. Davis is also returning. Dead or not, he was almost an essential part of the show as Mulder and Scully.
Finally TV Wise has reported that Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish will return as John Doggett and Monica Reyes. Given that they were the two agents investigating X Files during the show's final year, it makes sense for them both to play their part. I actually found their case of the week episodes to be quite refreshing, hearkening back to the early days, so I for one welcome this.
Are you looking forward to the return of Skinner, the cigarette-smoking man, Dogget and Reyes? Are they as essential to the revival as Mulder and Scully? How much of those six episodes will be split between mythology and monster of the week? Hopefully we'll be getting all those answers by the end of the year.
