Sarah Michelle Gellar Joins Star Wars Rebels Season Two
Star Wars Rebels has proven to be a surprise hit for Disney and Lucasfilm. The animated show has captured the spirit of the original Star Wars trilogy. There are only four episodes left of the first season but Disney were confident enough to order a second season back when the show began in 2014.
Joining season two in a recurring role will Buffy The Vampire Slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar. Her husband of course is Freddie Prinze, Jr, who voices Kanan Jarrus on the series.
Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni said yesterday “We’re thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for Season 2. She is a true Star Wars Rebels fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions.”
There have already been surprise appearances in season one by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, C-3PO, R2-D2, Yoda and now Lando Calarassian, with James Earl Jones, Anthony Daniels, Frank Oz and Billy Dee Williams voicing those iconic roles. We will all be looking forward to what the finale brings and what season two - Buffy and all - brings us in the near future.
