Tom Ellis Cast As Lucifer In Latest Comic Book TV Series

Tom Ellis is going to play the devil.

Lucifer is the latest comic-based TV show coming our way. This one features the Devil himself who grows bored of ruling Hell, moves to LA and helps the police punish criminals. This version of the character first appeared in Sandman, before getting his own comic series, created by Mike Carey and Peter Gross that ran between 2000 and 2006.

Ellis, of Miranda fame - and briefly Doctor Who, where he played Martha Jones’s fiance before being dumped for Mickey - is the first big casting for the show. Tom Kapinos, the creator of Californication will write the pilot, while Sleepy Hollow’s Len Wiseman will direct. Jerry Bruckheimer will be taking on duties as executive producer.
