Another Arrow / Flash Spin-Off To Feature Multiple Superheroes?
Warning. Contains spoilers for Arrow season three and The Flash season one
Hot on the heels of more casting announcements for Supergirl, comes a whole host of rumours about another DC TV show; a direct spin off of the The Cw's Arrow and The Flash TV universe. (It has not been confirmed of course whether CBS's Supergirl will have ties to these shows yet).
According to Deadline, Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim - the driving force behind all three shows - are looking to create another spin-off featuring multiple superheroes, some of which are already familiar to fans of Arrow and The Flash.
Appearing along with three characters that have not appeared in either show, will apparently be Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer / Atom. His suit was teased a couple of weeks back ahead of his Atom-debut in Arrow season three in the coming weeks. Joining him will be two characters from The Flash; Wentworth Miller's villainous (and maybe reformed?) Captain Cold and Victor Garber as Firestorm, a character teased in the latest UK-paced episode of The Flash and set to be a bigger presence in the coming weeks.
Most interestingly of all is the announcement that Caity Lotz will complete the roundup. She joined Arrow in season two as Black Canary only to be tragically killed off at the start of season three. Her sister Laurel has now taken up the mantle of Black Canary so it remains unclear just how Lotz will fit into the show. Sarah Lance / Black Canary returned from the dead or a new character entirely? With Atom not even a hero yet it certainly couldn't be a prequel to her time on Arrow.
Previous rumours suggested Atom was set to lead a third spin-off and while Routh has gone down well as Ray Palmer, his Atom hasn't made an appearance yet and may not have the same impact as say, Flash. A superhero team-up movie featuring Atom and Lotz's Black Canary could be a great thing and something slightly different to the current DC shows being produced by The CW.
More news as we hear it.
