Leonard Nimoy Dies Aged 83

Mr Spock himself, Leonard Nimoy has died aged 83. A true sci-fi icon, he passed away at his home in Bel Air from confirmed chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Nimoy announced he contracted the disease last year, attributed to years of smoking, despite giving it up thirty years ago.
Leonard Nimoy was best known to millions as the Vulcan Mr Spock in Star Trek. He continued to play the character on the big screen for six films, as well as a memorable appearance in Star Trek: The Next Generation’s season five two part story Unification. He returned to the role that made him famous in 2009 to herald in JJ Abram’s reboot of Star Trek and made a cameo appearance in the film’s sequel Star Trek Into Darkness
He also made a memorable return to TV with regular appearances on Abram’s sci-fi show Fringe as the villainous William Bell.
More recently, Leonard Nimoy has had a big presence on Twitter, embracing the motto ’live long and prosper’ with many uplifting tweets. His last tweet was no different.
A great icon has passed.
