Kelsey Grammer talks Frasier revival - likely to start in 2020
In the current TV age of revival and reboots, one sitcom rumoured for a continuation is Kelsey Grammer's award-winning sitcom Frasier. The actor has hinted that a revival has been in the works before, but chatting on In Depth with Graham Bensinger this week, Grammer confirmed that it is ready and coming soon.
"We’ve got it hatched. We’ve hatched the plan, what we think is the right way to go.
"We’re sort of on standby a little bit, working on a couple of possible network deals that we’re circling, and Frasier is sort of in a second position to that. But a revisit to Frasier, Frasier’s world, is I think definitely gonna come."
Asked about a potential return date for the Frasier revival, Grammer confirmed it probably late summer next year. The actor also hinted at how it might differ from the original series, which ran for 11 seasons between 1993 and 2004.
"We’ll see how people respond to it, because it’s not gonna be the same place, not gonna be Seattle, it’s not gonna be the same Frasier, it’s gonna be the man in his next iteration. Hopefully that’ll be something people like watching.
"It’s still his search for love, for one thing, I think that will always go on for Frasier, but [also] a connection with his son."
Though rumoured to return, it is unclear whether this next chapter in Frasier's life would feature fellow Frasier main characters Niles, Daphne and Roz. Sadly, Frasier's dad Martin Crane will be missing, with actor John Mahoney's death last year.
