Sky sign co-funding deal with HBO Max, UK launch of streaming network not likely!

Sky have signed a deal to continue broadcasting HBO shows in the UK, as part of the arrangement they have also agreed a co-funding arrangement with the HBO Max streaming platform which will mean that Sky will broadcast HBO Max shows in the UK and Europe.

The arrangement will cover UK, Ireland, Germany and Italy and will mean Sky will have access to shows such as the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel. It is set to run for five years.

The news of this new contract confirms our expectations that there would be no UK launch for the HBO Max platform, at least until the middle of the next decade.

We need your help

Running a website like The Digital Fix - especially one with over 20 years of content and an active community - costs lots of money and we need your help. As advertising income for independent sites continues to contract we are looking at other ways of supporting the site hosting and paying for content.

You can help us by using the links on The Digital Fix to buy your films, games and music and we ask that you try to avoid blocking our ads if you can. You can also help directly for just a few pennies per day via our Patreon - and you can even pay to have ads removed from the site entirely.
