Line Of Duty - renewal confirmed!

Terrific news has come that Line Of Duty has been renewed. In a twist almost as shocking as those one the show (not really...) it's actually been renewed for two new series, three and four.

Showrunner Jed Mercurio said "We’re profoundly grateful to the fans who not only watched Line Of Duty but also made it such a talking point, and to BBC Two for this rare and immensely flattering opportunity. For series three and four, I can promise two explosive new cases for AC-12, new guest stars as police officers investigated for corruption, further twists and turns from the loose ends of series two, and maybe even some surprise reappearances..."

While Ben Stephenson, Controller of BBC Drama said "Bringing it back for two more years is the easiest decision I have made."

Whilst there is no news on when to expect the third series it's fantastic that Mercurio has the chance to continue playing the long game that he gambled on with the first two series. Will we see 'Dot' Cottan get his? Or will Steve Arnott finally stop sleeping around? And what of Ted Hastings, undoubtedly more fab acting from Adrian Dunbar.

After the fumble the Beeb made with Ripper Street it's great to see BBC2 make the right decision quickly.
