Game of Thrones spin-off starring Naomi Watts dropped by HBO

The first Game of Thrones spin-off, headlined by Naomi Watts and written by Jane Goldman, has been dropped by HBO. As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, the pilot was filmed this summer.

The first of five potential spin-offs, the pilot was based on The Age of Heroes, a thousand years before the timeframe of the recently ended Game of Thrones series. A second series is also in development, based on The Targaryens.

It looks as if it's going to be some time before we see the next installment in the Game of Thrones saga.
