Neil Gaiman's Sandman is coming to Netflix

It's been in limbo for a long time, but Neil Gaiman's Sandman is finally coming to TV via Netflix according to THR. The show will see Gaiman attached as an executive producer alongside David S. Goyer. The property is being developed by Allan Heinberg who'll act as both showrunner and lead writer. Heinberg has previous form as the writer of the recent, well received, big screen adaption of Wonder Woman.

Gaiman's Sandman was originally a DC comic series that was revived by the author in the early eighties. It has been long coveted by film and TV producers - it was previously being developed into a film by Joseph Gordon-Levitt but that project stalled and this is the first thing we've seen since then.

No other information on the series has been released to date, however it lends itself to a multi-season story and we imagine Netflix will go all in to produce something that can be a tentpole for the network for a few years at least.

Netflix is an American entertainment company founded by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph on August 29, 1997, in Scotts Valley, California. It specialises in and provides streaming media and video-on-demand online. In 2013, Netflix expanded into film and television production, as well as online distribution.
