Rosamund Pike cast as Moiraine in The Wheel of Time TV series
Along with Amazon's The Lord of the Rings TV series, the next big fantasy saga for the small screen could be the adaptation of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time novels. And while a streaming date is a long way off yet, Amazon has announced the first big piece casting news.
Rosamund Pike has been cast as Aes Sedai as Moiraine. The book (and presumably TV series adaptation) starts with Moiraine, a member of an all-female magical organisation embarking on a dangerous journey with five young men and women, one of which, may be a reincarnated and incredibly powerful historical figure The Dragon, prophecised to save the world or break it a second time.
The Wheel of Time adaptation is being written and produced by Rafe Judkins, also acting as showrunner and executive producer alongside Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon of Red Eagle Entertainment, Ted Field and Mike Weber of Radar Pictures and Darren Lemke. Harriet McDougal - Robert Jordan's wide - is a consulting producer. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios will produce the series.
