Lucifer renewed for a fifth and final season by Netflix
will rise again for a fifth and final season at Netflix, TV Line has confirmed. The show stars Tom Ellis as the devil 'vacationing' in LA and helping detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) solve crimes. It ran for three seasons on Fox before it was cancelled and saved by Netflix, where it recently debuted its fourth season.
The shortened 10-episode season four was seen as a return to form by many (you can read our review here), following a somewhat frustrating third season run and the #saveLucifer campaign that followed after its cancellation by Fox.
Netflix made a short statement regarding Lucifer's renewal:
“We’re thrilled that ‘Lucifer’ fans around the world have embraced this series on Netflix, and we can’t wait to give them the big finish they’ve all been waiting for.”
is based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo. Tom Kapinos developed the show for television. The series is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Joe Henderson, Ildy Modrovich, Sheri Elwood and KristieAnne Reed.
Henderson and Modrovich also made a statement:
“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of ‘Lucifer’ on our terms. Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!!”
The first three seasons are available on Amazon Prime in the UK. The fourth season is available to watch on Netflix UK now.
