Interview suggests surprise appearance in Doctor Who: Day of the Doctor

According to an interview with The Huffington Post, it's being claimed that Tom Baker will be making an appearance in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary episode, Day of the Doctor. The rumour is being widely reported, but could just be Mr Baker teasing us fans - we're sure his face will appear a few times over the next few days, but has he actually filmed new material?

Baker said, "I am in the special. I’m not supposed to tell you that, but I tell you that very willingly and specifically; the BBC told me not to tell anybody but I’m telling you straightaway. It worked out very well, I think, judging by the reactions of the technicians."

The BBC have reportedly commented, "As with William Hartnell’s recent appearance in the last season finale, anything is possible in Doctor Who. But nothing is certain."

The long-running BBC TV science fiction series that started in 1963 and recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. 2017 saw Peter Capaldi regenerate into the show's first female Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker. The Thirteenth Doctor's first season debuts in 2018, with Chris Chibnall replacing Steven Moffat as the current showrunner.
