How to watch the final season of Game of Thrones in the UK

Game of Thrones returns to UK TV early next week - at the ungodly hour of 2am on 15th April OR 9pm that evening if you actually value your sleep. It broadcasts exclusively on Sky Atlantic in the UK - so if you want to get your Westeros fix you'll need to make sure you have access to that channel. Thankfully we're here to help...

Sky Atlantic is one of the few Sky channels that is restricted to Sky's own platforms - that is Sky+, Sky Q and Now TV. So if you want to watch the show on broadcast then you'll need to stump up the cash for one of those.

Best Value For Money

The cheapest way of watching Game of Thrones Season 8 in the UK is via a Now TV Entertainment Pass - not only does that give you access to the series as soon as it starts, you also have access to EVERY SINGLE episode via Now TV until 21st May - so you can binge watch previous years. You're probably leaving it a bit late to get all seven season in before Monday now!

Now TV offers a 7 day free trial for new customers, and they also offer discounted passes when paying up front for 3 or 6 months. Right now you can get three months Entertainment Pass for £17.99 or 6 months for £27.99. The standard monthly cost is £7.99.

Unfortunately, NOW TV only broadcasts at 720p at present so...

Best for Picture and Audio quality...

If you want the optimum picture quality then Sky Q is your only real option. Unfortunately they don't broadcast Game of Thrones in 4K, but you do get the full 1080p HD resolution with less compression than you get via the streaming on NOW TV.

Sky Q isn't quite as cheap though and it might well be too late to get it installed before the series starts.

You can sign up to Sky Q via the Sky website. You're looking at around £40 per month with a £95 set up fee to get started, but that'll give you access to the show in the best way possible.

Is Sky Atlantic available on Freeview, Freesat or Virgin Media?

No, unfortunately there is no other option for viewing Sky Atlantic or Game of Thrones on broadcast in the UK. If you can wait the show will be available to buy on Blu-ray and DVD after broadcast and will likely appear on other streaming platform on a pay-to-watch basis in the future.
