The BBC have released the first image of David Bradley as William Hartnell playing the First Doctor. We really can't see how they could have picked a more appropriate actor for the part.

Bradley will take the lead in Mark Gatiss An Adventure in Space and Time - the dramatisation of the early days of Doctor Who. Bradley will be joined by Brian Cox, Jessica Raine, Sacha Dhawan and Reece Shearsmith (who'll be playing the part of Second Doctor, Patrick Troughton).

An Adventure in Space and Time is part of the BBC's 50th Anniversary Doctor Who celebrations alongside the near feature-length 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who which features Matt Smith, David Tennant, John Hurt, Jenna Coleman and Billie Piper.

In a recent interview with EW, show producer, Steven Moffatt promised plenty of surprises for the anniversary episode claiming "we have a philosophy that anything we shot outside we had to own up to but the rest of it… You’re just going to have to wait until November to find out about."
