Marvel & Joss Whedon's Agents Of SHIELD gets full series!
The long-anticipated Agents Of Shield series from Marvel Studios will get a full series on ABC! This from IGN.
Considering that the series spins out of the massive hit Avengers movie, not to mention the amount of buzz around it already, it seemed inevitable that it wouldn't just be a pilot. Agents of SHIELD marks the return to TV of Avengers, Buffy and Firefly mastermind Joss Whedon, who will be running the series along with frequent collaborators Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.
The cast is led by Clark Gregg as popular SHIELD agent Phil Coulson, having apparently survived his death-by-Loki in the Avengers movie - is he going to come back from the grave with superpowers? Place your bets now! Joining him are Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet and J. August Richards - Richards previously worked with Whedon playing Gunn in Angel.
Of course, Whedon's post-Buffy TV efforts haven't necessarily been mega-hits - alas, poor Firefly and Dollhouse - and he is only co-running this due to his Marvel movie commitments, but nonetheless, he's always worked well in the serialised format and this team of co-producers did good work with him on Dr Horrible. Hopefully this will be a lot of fun.
There was briefly a seven-second teaser clip floating around showing the Hulk in some fire, but it appears to have been yanked from the internet. However, rumours are circulating via Bleeding Cool that a trailer will air on Sunday during the Once Upon A Time finale...
UPDATE: Bleeding Cool have now found a new embedded version of the clip - it may yet vanish again.
