Joanna Page and some classic monsters help the Doctor celebrate fifty years...

More on Doctor Who

Now that production of the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special is well under way, details are starting to slip out about what we can expect. First up, Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page joins the guest cast alongside David Tennant, Billie Piper, Alex Kingston and John Hurt.

The current 'rumour' is that Page will be playing a 'long lost relative' of the Doctor - could she be Susan Foreman, the Doctor's grand daughter last seen alongside William Hartnell?

Secondly, the episode looks set to see the return of a classic Who monster - the Zygons - who have only appeared once before, but are a firm fan favourite. They last fought Tom Baker's fourth Doctor in 1975 and their 2013 revamp is surprisingly close to the original.

We're expecting more and more information to be released over the coming weeks, but are keeping our fingers crossed that some big surprises still remain come November.
