A Discovery of Witches renewed for series two and three

Sky One's supernatural drama series A Discovery of Witches ended it's first series last night. Fortunately this is not the last we have seen of this world. Deadline has confirmed that the show has been renewed. And with A Discovery of Witches being one of the biggest shows on Sky One this year, they've ordered a third series as well.

A Discovery of Witches is based on the trilogy of novels by Deborah Harkness, which have sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide. Kate Brooke adapted the story for television, acting as showrunner for the first series. Sarah Dollard and Susie Conklin will pen the second series. All the main cast, led by Teresa Palmer as witch Diana and Matthew Goode as vampire Matthew, will retutn.

Sky’s Head of Drama Anne Mensah, who commissioned the series, made the following statement:

“Season one was a brilliant introduction to the All Souls world and the love story between Diana and Matthew. We can’t wait for the show’s fans to continue the journey with seasons two and three, become more enchanted by the characters and watch the magic further unfold.”

Executive producer to the show Julie Tranter added:
“We were absolutely thrilled that A Discovery of Witches was such a hit with viewers. There was a real sense of community throughout the run as fans old and new joined together to watch each week. We cannot wait to continue the journey with them and, as the show continues to sell around the world, bring a global fanbase to these engaging and fascinating characters.”

Finally, author Harkness, who also serves as executive producer, said:
“Given how warmly the season was received, I’m thrilled that we will be continuing with the story of the All Souls Trilogy. There is so much to look forward to as we travel into Matthew’s past and delve further into the mysteries surrounding Diana’s power and Ashmole 782.”
