Neil Gaiman agrees exclusive deal with Amazon Studios

Amazon Studios is currently distributing a TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's American Gods with a second season due (likely 2019 considered its troubled production) and is currently producing another adaptation of his book Good Omens. And now it seems as if they'll be a driving force behind more of his work too with the author agreeing a deal to work exclusively on new series for Amazon Prime Video, which will launch them globally, Variety has confirmed.

The deal was announced by Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, alongside Gaiman at an Amazon show-and-tell in London on Tuesday. Gaiman will no longer work with Fremantle, who produces American Gods. This is what Salke had to ay about the deal.

“Neil Gaiman is a phenomenally talented writer, who creates worlds that are compelling, multi-dimensional and narratively unique. His fans are ardent, vocal and passionate, and we are fortunate to bring his gifted vision to the Prime Video audience.”

Gaiman said that working with Amazon on Good Omens, which stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen, convinced him to sign the deal.
“They are smart, gloriously enthusiastic people, who weren’t afraid of ‘Good Omens’ being different but who were as determined as I was to make something as unique and exciting as it is.”
