Arrowverse SDCC update: Supergirl casts the first transgender superhero, The Flash season 5 gets a villain, trailers and more...

There were lots of new details and a handful of trailers released this weekend for the various Arrowverse shows at San Diego Comic Con. Here's all the news and trailer round-up from each series, plus more details on the upcoming cross-over with Batwoman...

Arrow season seven



The new trailer for Arrow season seven sees Oliver Queen in prison, facing old and new foes while the Dragon continues to plot his revenge outside. Picking up five months after the season six finale (you can read our review of Life Sentence here), it will be interesting to see how the show picks up the pieces from last season's decisive fallout.

The Flash



The trailer for The Flash season five focuses heavily on Barry and Iris's daughter Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) who has been made a season five regular. Also featured is Chris Klein as the new big bad Cicada. The second non-speedster big bad of the long-running superhero series, Cicada is described as the scourge of Central City, a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family was torn apart by metahumans, Cicada is out to take them all out, one at a time.

The panel at SCDD also confirmed that season five will see Gorilla Grodd and King Shark team up in the latter half of season five. You can read our review of the season four finale We Are The Flash here.

Legends of Tomorrow



The fourth season will focus on mythical monsters as Matt Ryan's Constantine joins the show as a season regular. However, it was confirmed that the Legends of Tomorrow will sit out this year's crossover with Batwoman and Gotham City.

Supergirl



Three new cast members  including transgender actor Nicole Maines, portraying Nia Nal aka Dreamer, the first transgender superhero on television. Joining Maines are new series regular April Parker Jones, who will play Colonel Haley, and David Ajala, as recurring character  Manchester Black. The new trailer focuses on humanity fighting back against Supergirl and the alien presence on Earth for all the havoc that have caused.

Finally, here is the first teaser for the Batwoman crossover. No footage yet of the currently uncast female superhero that will helm her own TV series in the 2019/20 TV season...
