New Doctor Who Christmas prequel: Vastra Investigates!

As the official Doctor Who blog continues counting down to new Christmas special The Snowmen, today they hit us with a couple of tidbits.

First up, the 2012 festive episode will debut a new intro sequence and title music, to go with that new TARDIS design we reported the other week.

But second, and more substantial, we have another actual short "prequel" to the episode: Vastra Investigates, featuring Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), the Silurian Sherlock, and her companions Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey), the stranded Sontaran. Check it out below, then we'll do a few comments:

Basically, a quick re-introduction to these characters, and a reminder that they were fun. Hopefully they'll get some good moments in the Christmas special, including some anti-human racism from Strax, and not too many of them will be killed off for dramatic effect.

Doctor Who

The long-running BBC TV science fiction series that started in 1963 and recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. 2017 saw Peter Capaldi regenerate into the show's first female Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker. The Thirteenth Doctor's first season debuts in 2018, with Chris Chibnall replacing Steven Moffat as the current showrunner.
