Apple developing Isaac Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ Books for television
A few weeks ago, we ran a feature looking at 10 authors who deserve an anthology TV series and among that list was the work of Isaac Asimov. Perhaps our writer Benedict Seal was onto something because Apple has just announced that they are developing a TV series based on Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ books.
Foundation is set far in the future where a Galactic Empire rules humanity across distant planets. The central protagonist Hari Seldon, envisions a looming dark age and the fall of the Galactic Empire and gathers the greatest scientific minds to form the “Foundation” and lead the Galactic Empire into the future, while under threat of rising warlords. The series began as a collection of short stories published in Astounding Magazine in 1942, before becoming a book trilogy in 1951 and leading to further sequels and prequels.
Foundation will be written and executive produced by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman. The TV series will be produced by Skydance Television, while David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross will also serve as executive producers.
