New Doctor Who casting announcements

Two new additions to the Doctor Who season 7 cast have been announced via the official Doctor Who twitter account. Real-life mother and daughter, Dame Diana Rigg and Rachael Stirling will appear in an upcoming episode. The news was further embellished my show-runner Steven Moffat with news that the duo will appear in the Mark Gatiss episode that has already got heavyweight thesp David Warner and Liam Cunningham in the line-up.

Dame Diana Rigg needs no introduction, already a genre favourite having been both a Bond girl AND starring in the sixties TV show The Avengers. Her daughter, Rachael Strirling, has previously appeared on the big screen most recently in Snow White and the Huntsman.

The long-running BBC TV science fiction series that started in 1963 and recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. 2017 saw Peter Capaldi regenerate into the show's first female Doctor played by Jodie Whittaker. The Thirteenth Doctor's first season debuts in 2018, with Chris Chibnall replacing Steven Moffat as the current showrunner.
