What is The Acolyte release date? If you’re a Star Wars fan, you probably know there’s far more to the galaxy than the Skywalker Saga, and The Acolyte is about to take us to a time long before Luke and Leia.

One of those new series is The Acolyte, a show which will explore the High Republic era.
The Acolyte is one of the latest TV series to be announced, and will be making its debut on the streaming service Disney Plus. However, what is the The Acolyte release date, and how long will we have to wait for the series? We’re here to fill you in with everything that we know about The Acolyte.
The Acolyte release date speculation
The Acolyte will hit screens sometime in 2024. This was confirmed at Star Wars Celebration 2023, and with Ahsoka releasing around August we can expect The Acolyte to come to screens in the first half of the year.
However, this obviously all depends on what knock-on effect the ongoing 2023 Writers Strike will have on The Acolyte’s production.

What happens in The Acolyte?
Set in the final days of the High Republic era, The Acolyte will follow a Jedi Master and their former Padawan as they investigate a string of mysterious crimes.
According to the series’ official logline, The Acolyte will explore the “emerging dark-side powers” and “shadowy secrets” that underpin the galaxy and High Republic during that era.
In an interview with Empire, showrunner Leslye Headland explained how also at the heart of the series is the idea that the Jedi aren’t as perfect as everyone thinks, and how their shortcomings, in part, may have led to their own downfall.
“When you’re doing something completely original, like we are, you want to question the status quo of the era that you live in,” she explained. “What I think is so interesting right now is that everybody thinks they’re right! The Jedi really think they’re right — and George [Lucas] tells us that they’re wrong in [The Phantom Menace]. They missed a huge aspect of the dark side rising. That just felt like fertile ground to look into what’s going on for all of us right now.”
The Acolyte trailer speculation
The Acolyte trailer will likely debut late in 2023 in the run-up to the release of the show. Attendees at the Star Wars celebration 2023 event got to catch an exclusive glimpse, but this hasn’t been made available more widely yet.
For now however, while it’s still filming, other Star Wars fans are still waiting to get their first proper look at what’s going on with The Acolyte.
How many episodes of The Acolyte will there be?
It looks like there will be eight episodes of The Acolyte, and each of them will be around one hour long.
That’s according to a report on Sara Putt Associates website, which lists Adelaide Waldrop as the lead intimacy coordinator for the Disney Plus show and reveals just how busy Waldrop will be. This has not been confirmed by Disney yet.
Where can I watch The Acolyte?
When the time comes, you’ll be able to watch The Acolyte on Disney Plus.
This shouldn’t come as a shock, though — Disney Plus is the home of all the Star Wars series.
