We currently don’t know the Squid Game season 2 release date, but we do know it will be in 2024. A second season was officially confirmed by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos during an investor’s call, teasing: “The Squid Game universe has just began.”

Something different: Best comedy series
We know production on Squid Game season 2 will begin in the summer of 2023 and will last ten months before heading into post-production. With this in mind, we estimate a release date in late summer of 2024.
Squid Game season 2 plot speculation
As of May 2023, the Squid Game season 2 plot is being kept under wraps. Last we saw Seong Gi-hun, he was turning away from boarding a flight to see his daughter re-enter the game. So hopefully, we find out what he’s up to. What this will lead to? We don’t know, but it’s more than enough to keep us guessing.
Hwang, who wrote and directed every episode, has said he is keen to explore the police in his story more and follow them uncovering the mysteries of the titular game and the Front Man at the head of it all.
Squid Game season 2 cast speculation
As of May 2023, we know that Lee Jung-jae will be back in the Squid Game season 2 cast. He was the sole survivor from the first game and will return again. The actor has confirmed he is preparing to shoot the second season.
If the Front Man is a central character, expect Lee Byung-hun to play him again. One member of the original cast, Jung Ho-yeon, has all but confirmed she won’t be returning for season 2, though.
