Charlotte Rose Benjamin shares video for 'Cursed' - taken from her upcoming new EP Party City
New Yorker, Charlotte Rose Benjamin will release her debut EP on Moshi Moshi Records on 21st February 2020.
Born and raised on Martha’s Vineyard, Charlotte began performing original music as a teen at local venues and has performed regularly in New York. She states that her songs are “about not having all the answers.”
Charlotte's first release on Moshi Moshi, "Ten Thousand Pesos" received airplay on BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and Absolute Radio with kudos from the likes of Huw Stevens, John Kennedy and Maz Tappuni.
Charlotte’s captivating lyrics and wit are perfectly showcased in the garage folk pop girl band anthem of the follow up single ‘Cursed’, which, Charlotte says, is about, “the inevitable post-breakup hookup, that feeling when you know you're not meant to be with someone but something keeps pulling you back. It's a celebration of being young and making mistakes while throwing your hands up in surrender and self acceptance and having a dance party with your best friends all at once.” Fittingly, the video was shot by Charlotte’s friend Hlif Olafsdottirduring a road to trip to Iceland.
Charlotte, who starred in Gus Dapperton’s video for breakthrough single ‘I’m Just Snacking’ and counts The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne as a fan, is certainly One To Watch for 2020.
