Various (mixed by Aquasky) - Breakbeat Bass 2
With breakbeat still pretty much eluding mainstream attention, remaining ghettoised in such places as London club, Fabric, and Annie Nightingale's early morning BBC Radio 1 show, Breakbeat Bass 2 makes for a reasonable genre sampler. It's mixed by Bournemouth trio/ scene veterans, Aquasky, to showcase tracks from their own Passenger label. Although front loaded with some kick-ass cuts (King Roc's mix of The Pressure, Chris Carter's mix of Addiction), it does drag in parts before returning in style with Dylan Rhymes' mix of Girls and Boys (nothing to do with the Blur song). Still, since it can be had for around £4, who's complaining?
