Various - Late Night Tales (mixed by Matt Helders)
It seems any old Tim, Dick or Harry can put their name to a compilation these days. Indeed, quite what inspired the Late Night Tales people to approach Arctic Monkeys' drummer, Matt Helders, for a track listing is anyone's guess - but what matters is that the result is pretty damn pleasing to the ears throughout.
One has to have respect for anybody who can squeeze in a Goblin track (purely because it suggests teenage years spent watching Italian horror movies), the UK's finest rapper (that'll be Roots Manuva) and a spiffing, specially recorded cover of cheesy 90s dancefloor classic, Dreamer. Light on guitar music and heavy on (quality) hip-hop, there's really not much here to suggest this was made by an Arctic Monkey. The review copy is missing a story read by bandmate, Alex Turner, but, even without it, Late Night Tales can be highly recommended for your post club armoury.
