Various - Disney Channel Christmas Hits

What happens when you mix festive favourites with the hippest Disney stars?
"You get the best of both worlds"!
So it's no suprise that "Disney Channel Christmas Hits" kicks off with everyone's favourite duel identity Popstar - Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana singing a rowdy version of "Rockin' around the Christmas tree" , with Dad Billy Ray showing up later with a rendition of Run "Rudolph run".
There's a variety of musical styles on the album including The US Busted - Jonas Brothers giving us a Punk Pop flavoured "Girl of my dreams" followed by The Cheetah Girls with their R and B tinged "Have yourself a merry little Christmas".
The stars of global phenomena "High School Musical" feature heavily on the album, with Ashley Tisdale's version of Wham's "Last Christmas" adding a strong dance beat to the mix while onscreen brother Lucas Grabeel's gift to the world is a Soft Rock version of "Let it snow"!
Corbin Bleu delivers "This Christmastime" and Monique Coleman rounds of the HSM quartet with "Christmas vacation".
But the HSM fun doesn't stop there as the closing track "I'll be home for Christmas" is sung by Drew Seeley - the real singing voice for Troy Bolton (gasp!).
The voice of Kim Possible - Christy Carlson Romano does well with a nice Bangles tinged track "Best time of the year" which also reminds me strangely of Kenickie's "Punka"!
There are a couple of tracks on the album that don't quite fill with me Christmas cheer, especially Kyle Massey from TV's "That's so Raven"' singing "Jingle Bells (a hip hop carol)".It's fairly awful and certainly needs un rapping (groan!).
Aly and AJ whose "Potential breakup song" is my third favourite single of 2007 don't disappoint though with a wonderful Pop Punk festive treat "Greatest time of year", the best track out of the 14 on offer.
This album is a must for anyone who's getting "High School Musical" presents this year and is a fairly decent Christmas collection in it's own right.
I don't imagine any of the tracks on the album will have long lasting appeal but Pop should be all about instant fun so enjoy yourselves rockin' around the Christmas tree, listening to "Disney Channel Christmas Hits"!
