The Low Miffs - Also Sprach Shareholder

Jaunty debut that is perhaps even more reminiscent of the original Sound of Young Scotland than Franz et al. but remains distinctive enough to make it stand out from the crowd. More Paul Haig than Stuart Adamson (if you get my drift). I'm of an age where the sound of a saxophone is still likely to instill a clammy chill, but thankfully this brings more of a Beefheartian vibe to the party than Climie Fisher ever did.

The flip is a different kettle of fish, a brooding piece of Cabaret that swells into a pretty impressive string-laden finale. More polished than one would expect from a debut. Oddly compelling.
