Rainbow Family - The Rainbow EP

As you might expect from their name, Rainbow Family's music brings with it a sense of innocence and nostalgia. This, the debut EP from Scottish duo Marco Rea and Barry Christie, marries simple, spacey electronics (think Air) to 70s style songwriting and harmonies. I Can See A Rainbow has a certain schmaltzy charm, although it might verge on too much for those not in love. Other highlights are Seagus, which you'd almost swear is a John Lennon cover (it isn't), and When California Began, a retro-futuristic instrumental. Nice, but not essential.
