Motorettes - You Gotta Look The Parts
For the under fives, The Motorettes are those little metal blokes that operate the engine of the Hoobmobile, but for everyone teenage and above, they are quite a cool little band. Coming from the streets of Tynemouth, a small beach town in North East England, The Motorettes believe in the raw power of the two and a half minute pop song. They see themselves as rock and roll, bursting with emotion and energy, and the essence of that spirit has been fully captured on this recording
Starting with the sound of a badly tuned radio, the song bursts in with the chorus, leading into a stuttering verse of contrasting lyrics. Its repetition is never boring, full of punchy guitars, handclaps and crashing cymbals. It all drops out at the end, concluding with handclaps and acapella.
This is a good little song, sounding shorter than its three minutes length. Whilst its not the greatest track around at the moment, it is certainly worthy of attention.
The single is released on enhanced CD single and limited edition 7" Vinyl.
