Does It Offend You, Yeah? - You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into

Does It Offend You, Yeah?'s fondness for silly names certainly extends to their debut album. The wordy title You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into takes some beating but track six, Attack of the 60 Ft Lesbian Octopus, has a club handy. However, this lack of a certain finesse doesn't detract from the Reading outfit's first crack of the dancefloor whip.

In a post-Justice world, the likes of Battle Royale and Weird Science could be written off as pointless but you would be missing out on frazzled slabs of beeps 'n' bleeps. Indeed, anyone who has heard the single We Are Rockstars will agree that it sounds like short-circuiting robots attempting to fix the problem by throwing themselves around a room of synths and hammering on a cowbell. The rock-rave element - they are a band after all - is brought to the forefront on tracks like With a Heavy Heart, which sounds like the Rapture gone paranoid on scary hallucinogens, and club favourite Let's Make Out, which overcomes a snotty vocal by not giving a shit and 'aving it large.

While not offensive per se, there are a few tracks that fall short of the high benchmark the band are striving to surpass. Doomed Now is spoilt by a grating vocoder, while Epic Last Song is a pretty un-epic experiment that falls flat. The '80s pop vibe felt on Dawn of the Dead and Being Bad Feels Pretty Good is certainly welcome and shows true versatility; however, they suffer from sounding put-together and like a pastiche of better songs, whereas Golden Skans blended disparate influences to create something that was truly Klaxons' own sound. Still, this is a barmy collection of ten tracks; it's ultimately throwaway by nature but, while you're dancing at least, you'll definitely be 'getting yourself into it'.
