Cass Fox - Army of One

Not many get a number one single with their first release, but that is just what Cass Fox did, teaming up with Rul Da Silva to produce Touch Me, a song which sold in excess of 300,000 copies. Now without Da Silva, she has partnered with Rollo Armstrong (Faithless) to produce her debut album and this single, Army of One, out this week.

This seems like a song that struggles to know what it wants to be - it can't make its mind up if it wants to be dance, or soul, and as a result just sounds like nothing much at all. It starts with a clipped keyboard sound, programmed beats and a heavily sequenced orchestra, but it never really gets off the ground. The lyrics to are pretty meaningless, contradictory and a little bit patronising.

The debut album is out on the 19th June. Cass is currently on tour with Daniel Powter.
