The Loud - Harris Shutter

Namechecking a ton of classic psychedelic and garage bands as influences is always a good way for a band to introduce themselves, but this bunch of Liverpudlian rockers have failed to distil what makes those acts so good and have ended up with a desultory sixteen minutes worth of music that is somewhat less than enthralling. Sure, there are fuzzed up guitars and the obligatory wailed vocals but missing is the spark that elevates certain bands from the swathe of average ones treading the boards. Only on the fragile, melancholic closer ‘Magic’ does Harris Shutter rise above the mundane and suggests that The Loud may have more in their locker than is indicated on the rest of this underwhelming debut.
