The Cute Lepers - Adventure Time

Whilst they might be four years into their career and releasing their third full-length, The Cute Lepers are brand new to me – forgive me if I have been living under a rock. The Seattle sextet are clearly influenced and inspired by the punk movement and they take the punk rock-meets-ska-meets-power pop sound down the The Clash and The Runaways highway of upbeat noise. The vocal interplay between frontman Steve E. Nix (yes, that is his name) and the band’s female members plays a vital role throughout the record, with ‘Foxy Society’, ‘Head Over Heels’ and ‘She Liked Helter Skelter’ proving to be particularly powerful tunes. It’s poppy, rocky, danceable and an excellent soundtrack for the summer.
