Terminal Sound System - Heavy Weather

Emerging from a dark Melbourne warehouse, Terminal Sound System are a loud and gloomy concoction of enormous doom riffs, mutated electronica and instrumental soundscapes. Originally a means with which to explore dub electronic music, the band have recently started playing live and Heavy Weather reflects that. ‘Tides’ is a looming monster of a track with giant cascading riffs and glitch-ridden noise searing through the background, while ‘Broken Hands For Careful Minds’ takes a proggy, trip-hop direction through delicate beats and sparse melodies. ‘Long Division’ even includes some jazz-esque percussive flourishes while sub-bass synth drones drift in and out, giving way to more cataclysmic doom-metal guitars. The band’s sound seems to be moving in the same direction as Ulver's has recently, just with far more focus on an industrial type heaviness rather than melody. Heavy Weather sinks the listener into a world of oppressive dread and darkness that you’ll be hard pushed to escape from.
