Spank Rock - Everything Is Boring And Everyone Is A Fucking Liar

If your twin musical paramours are rap and dance music then Spank Rock probably hasn't escaped your notice over the past few years. Debut album YoYoYoYoYo landed in 2006 and since then MC Spank Rock, aka Naeem Juwan, has collaborated with the likes of Santigold, Neon Neon and Mark Ronson. The eclecticism of these choices is reflected in the club-baiting 'party rap' of this second album, which plays like a thoroughly enjoyable mix-tape readymade for playback at any point during your next big Saturday night.

Produced mainly by electro maestros Boys Noize, as well as Spank Rock old-hand XXXchange, the album is propelled by club beats but also makes room for rock and pop primary colours, tethering together a mesh of exhilarating noise that Juwan's rhymes vibrantly bounce across. There's rarely pause for reflection but the energy is infectious and, if you don't find something here that makes you wanna dance, then you're probably dead. Santigold returns the favour on the catchy 'Car Song', Big Freedia contributes to the bass-shaking 'Nasty' and, right until closing number and lead single 'Energy', it's brash, ballsy and lots of fun.
