Ladytron - Best Of 00-10
Have Ladytron really been the UK’s premier purveyors of aloof, icy electro pop for a whole ten years? It’s strange to realise that in that whole period they’ve never troubled the UK Top 40 – and doubly so when you take into account how consistently strong their output, as represented by this collection, has been. They were always slightly ahead of the curve though, employing an 80s retro synth sound that has subsequently become fashionable enough to catapult others into the stratosphere (Goldfrapp, Hot Chip, Simian Mobile Disco et al). Highlights include 'Tomorrow' (which sounds like the single New Order never made) the slightly sinister whisperings of 'Seventeen', the glammy stomp of 'Ghosts' and the thumping 'Destroy Everything You Touch'. With a new album expected later in the year, now's the time to catch up.
