Fink - Perfect Darkness

While you might want to christen Fink the acoustic James Blake after one listen of Perfect Darkness, it should really be the other way around. Perfect Darkness is the singer-songwriter's fifth full length effort and has developed a strong cult following over the years, but with the emergence of the likes of Blake into the mainstream, this album should provide Fink with the exposure he deserves. Populating his sparse soundscapes often with just his acoustic guitar and distinctive, gravelly but smooth voice, Fink's music is both audibly interesting and exciting and has a way of softly immersing itself into your cranium. Each of the ten tracks bring something different to the table whether showcasing his touch for a big chorus on 'Fear Is Like Fire' or the soaring, glorious finale of 'Foot In The Door', and leaves us wondering just how we managed to let Fink pass us by before. Original, exciting and a lot of fun, Perfect Darkness should prove to be Fink's ticket out of the shadows.
